Server Tuning Complete

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

The server is now tuned. I’ve now gotten direct root logins via SSH disabled. The appropriate users are in wheel. God is in His Heaven, and all is right in the world.

Okay, okay, so the Venus installs on the server aren’t auto-updating. I’ll fix it. :) Please let me know about any other annoyances that you see with the server as you’re using it.

Server Tuning Should Happen Tonight

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Remember back in March when I had the server tuned? Well, given that the server’s since been nuked and repaved, I’ve got the ConfigServer folks lined up to do their magic yet again. I pretty much won’t run a cPanel server without it being tuned by them and all the reporting tools they set up for me. It’s essential, in my opinion.

They’re set to do their work tonight during off-peak hours.

Apache Configuration Issues Should Be Solved

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Obviously, a plain vanilla installation of Apache isn’t going to have all the stuff we need here on the box. I’ve reconfigured Apache and PHP to properly use CURL, GD, MBstring, and XML-RPC. [Maybe one other thing, I forget.] This should solve all issues with Spam Karma and those of you who use Croissanga [which is built on CURL]. Please let me know if something is missing in the configuration—I’ll work on it.
