Anything I try to do to the server at this point is going to have to be undone at a later date, so I’m going to quit while I’m ahead.
I’m enabling backups [and moving the restore files to a new directory so that they can't be overwritten] and going to bed soon. Neither Mark nor I can figure out why the Rumor Forum won’t connect properly—but all the data is there, so it is not a crash. Ahem.
Now I will work on easing into blissful slumber…
I wondered how long before somebody brought up the word “crash.” hehe.
I predict a comment from Keith in 5…4….3….2…..
Wonkiness is to be expected anytime something significant is done to the server. Any sufficiently complex system will experience noticeable perturbations even from the smallest (and hardest-to-notice) stimuli; and I’m sure Geof could corroborate that a million times over with space-tech tales.
Fart in space, and you go moving the other way. That’s why space toilets have lap restraints.
That, and … getting a good seal.
Who needs the Rumor Forum? We just learned about SPACE TOILETS!
THE GREAT CRASH OF AUGHT SEVEN!
*gasp*
Everyone back slowly away from Scott……
of course they have toilets in space.
you know, for the obvious and also a place for the drunken astronauts to upchuck.
Random thought: We were talking about the drunk astronauts at work today.
Thanks for all your hard work, Geof and Mark!! We appreciate it! You guys RAWK.
I probably could have used a lap restraint on my toilet a couple of summers ago when I made the unwise choice to hit up as many skyline restaurants as possibly in a weekend, and then topped it off with an all-you-can-eat wing night.
Just admit you broke it, Geof.
(kidding, thanks for all your work)
So, generally I have no internet access and no time. But since I’m housesitting this week, I have both. And no rumor forum.
I guess I’ll just spend my time cleaning up dog puke and trying to keep more kittens from dying.
