Server Funkiness

Hey all … not sure what’s going on with the box. The NOC just called to tell me that it’s offline. I saw a DDoS-style spike this morning and haven’t had time to investigate as I’m off visiting family … will try to investigate as best I can from here …

Update, 1622 GMT: The current outage is at least in part due to a power failure with the server, possibly a bad power supply.

    So much for 07-07-07 being a special day. Well, I guess it is special, if you think of server outage as a rare and special event. Still, I could do without it.

    Yeah, not how I want to be spending my Dad’s birthday. :)

    I think that the load spike and the supply are largely unrelated … I didn’t have any “the server is dying” emails before it went down, and the load was just fine when I was on it around 0845 CDT or so.
