0257: Complete!

Previously, I was having issues with the hair-trigger sensitivity of mod_security feeding into the firewall causing access problems for legitimate users of the server. [Heck, Monday night, I got locked out my own self.] That said, we’re being hammered a bit again now, so I’ve re-enabled it. However, I now understand the firewall better, so I’m equipped to get people passed through if you get locked out.

So, if you’re suddenly unable to access the server at all—mail, Web, FTP, SSH—let me know and I can get you back in. To keep the server running more efficiently, I have to capture a few innocents to keep all the guilty punks out. [It's that or pay more for the server, and ... no budget for that now.]

Some mail wonkiness was happening, so I gave in and rebooted the server. Should be online shortly. 1336 CDT: Back up!

1436 CDT: Okay, not really sure why this would have caused issues, but … MailScanner was out-of-date, and it really started horking things up. I’ve upgraded it, and I’m presently upgrading ClamAV. I also updated the firewall. Mail that was appearing to have spooled is now starting to show up [for not only me but for other users]. Please holler if you have issues.

I’m going to optimize and repair the db to help smooth things out. Hopefully this will resolve the email notification issue as well.

Everthing should be back up & hunky-dory.
